Intro to Creative Coding for First-Time Beginners

Join us for a friendly and relaxed hands-on introduction to creative coding, designed for complete beginners, adults and children aged about 10+. No experience of coding needed at all, and we aim to create a relaxed and supportive session for all. Anyone tech-shy is very welcome. All you need is a modern laptop - Windows, Mac and Chromebooks are fine. The workshop itself will start at the beginning, and progressively explore more sophisticated ideas over the time. We'll take breaks, and there is no need to keep up, go at your own pace.

Requirements

Participants need to:

• Bring your own laptop
• Install Firefox or Chrome browsers (recommended)
• Charge your laptop in advance (plugs will be available)

Bio

Tariq's first experience of coding on a BBC Micro, aged 7 in the 1980s, was to create visual designs. His fascination with using technology, code and a little maths to create sophisticated designs remains to this day.

Aside from his day job in technology, he has run a popular children's code club and an Algorithmic Art meetup for some years, and is the author of widely translated books on creative coding and generative AI. He loves the open source community, and tries to speak or run workshops at meetups and conferences whenever he can.
